“rand* worked hand-in-hand with our design and engineering team…they brought things to the table that none of us had considered. Our final pricing really showed the value of those new ideas…rand* found ways for us to afford and include things we thought we couldn’t...” |
An important tool in creating a collaborative effort, BIM software, such as REVIT, can be utilized. In the design phase of the project, REVIT can provide real time modeling that allows the team to see in three-dimensionally both the design elements and the infrastructure. The relationships and discussions in this phase are valuable in working out broad coordination issues. On a recent project, rand* and the design team utilized BIM to create a ductwork layout that could quickly be modeled to detect any conflicts. At that point the model was overlaid with information from the site to finalize the efforts and efficiently move into the shop submittal phase. As the design progresses into the CD’s its usefulness for all team members is apparent. The design team can take the information and turn them into Construction Documents, rand* can begin utilizing the information for take-offs and costing exercises and the rand* field staff can begin extensive surveys to pinpoint more focused coordination issues and challenges.
